about
This song is about aknowledging that we all may encounter bad situations that we can't control and that being passive to the events will never bring us anywhere, if not further away from ourselves.
I decided to use a spoken word approach with the lyrics for the first time, to give them a real sense of inner conversation.
lyrics
Lyrics:
Like old, trashed boats at shore
With waves caressing our sides.
The sea was too strong,
No use trying to resist.
And since the tide has been so gentle now,
Aren't we all content?
A faint scent of salt fills the lungs,
It doesn't want you to forget
So please, don't forget
How it felt to be tossed about
Until you lost the will to fight back.
But I don't know, I could be wrong...
And when the tides rise again
We might just leave the sand,
But with no captain in charge
How can we sail through it?
Turns out there's nothing in between broken and bent.
I've changed my mind so many times
And still can't seem to understand
Why I can't hold back
So please, don't hold back.
I've let the salt corrode my soul,
And guess what I got back...
And when the waters reach the neck
There is no coming back.
"Sink or swim" is not just an expression,
And when you lose track
The scariest part is not that you may not care,
But that you don't care whether you care or not.
And for all the chances I didn't take,
And all the time I chose to leave to waste,
I won't forget,
I swear, I won't forget.
And I won't hold back,
I swear, I won't hold back,
No, I swear...
I won't hold back.
